I’ve been totally stressing out because my father’s birthday is coming up and I don’t have the slightest clue as to what to get him. Last year I got him a 60th birthday gift basket, which he absolutely hated. He didn’t say this to me of course, but I heard him complaining to my mom later that night. He said he didn’t understand how his oldest son didn’t even know him well enough to get him a gift that he actually liked. And he was right, I really don’t have the slightest clue as to what to get him. He’s really not interested in many things and I don’t think I’ve ever gotten him something that he’s ever liked.

So this year I’m determined to get him something that he enjoys. He’s turning 61 and lately he’s been going to the horse races a lot. I figured that maybe I could get him some passes to the track or maybe a nice blazer with one of his favorite horses across the back of it. I bounced this idea off my mom and she said that he would probably like that very much. In fact, she went on to tell me that he had recently told her that he had his eye on a stylish leather jacket. He was talking about it for the last few days but the only reason he didn’t buy it was because it was a little too expensive.
